With Valentine’s Day on the horizon, I thought this would be a good time to talk about one of my favorite songs, Kiss, Kiss. I’ve been hearing Holly Valance’s Kiss Kiss on studios’ play list. Pulsing and driving, this samba provides a foundation for an intoxicating dance. When I first heard it, I knew it had a unique styling but I couldn’t classify it into any typical pop styles. Then, as I looked into the song further, I found the original artist, Tarkan, of Turkish decent, who recorded the song about 10 years ago. Listening to his recording, the style made sense as I heard the Mediterranean color that had been masked in Valance’s rendition. I’ve posted the two different vocalists for you to compare the two songs. Listen and tell me which one appeals to you.
For Valance’s song, I have purposely posted the song without the video though you can easily view it on Youtube if you wish.
Here is the original song with the full Mediterranean sound. Aside from the poor quality video and the fact that it is NOT in English, see if you like it as much as I do.
